“Started implementing in staff rooms as key locations early in 2010. By Mid‐year blue and red bins were rolled out into class rooms whereby students can participate. Sorting of waste has significantly improved. Colours are very important as with signage. Over 3 sites, with 450 staff. Organic recovery; bins are located in staff rooms, cafeterias, food technology, early learning centre and in toilets for paper towels….approx 270kg per week of recovered organics. Have painted wheelie bins the same colour as Eco Bins to keep the waste message consistent in the school yard. All classrooms have paper bins for students to utilise and are emptied when required into the main skip for collection. Education to encourage and reinforce the message for students (& staff) to use the bins properly.”
