QLD's 10c Container Exchange is Expanding, and We're Ready to Celebrate! 🎉

Get ready to pop the corks and clink the glasses – but hang on to those bottles! There are some big changes afoot for Queensland's recycling, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Starting this November, QLD's recycling efforts are about to get a serious boost, with 10-cent refunds being offered for all glass wine and spirit bottles. Cue the champagne celebrations! 🍾

The Need to Know
The sunny state of Queensland is upping its recycling game by including wine and spirit bottles in the 10c Containers for Change program.
Here's what you need to know:
Date: The change kicks off on 1st November 2023.
What's New: Wine and spirit bottles will now fetch you 10 cents apiece when returned for recycling.
The Impact: This addition ensures that more glass gets recycled, keeping our planet greener!
Eligible Containers: Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard beverage containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible for a 10 cent refund. And starting in November, so will glass wine and spirit bottles!

How the Queensland Container Deposit Scheme works
Across Queensland, over 400 refund collection points will be available, making recycling within reach no matter whether you're sipping Malibu in Mackay or Bundy in Brisbane.
  1. You purchase a drink.
  2. You return your empty drink container to a refund point. Find your nearest.
  3. You receive a 10-cent refund for every eligible container you return. You can choose to keep the funds or donate to a participating charity, community group, environmental group, educational organisation or sports group.
  4. Your returned container is given a new lease on life. The material is recycled and remanufactured into a new product, saving it from landfill or littering the environment.

What Containers can you return for 10c in Queensland?
Come November, your plastic soda and glass beer bottles, canned fizzy drinks and alcohol, and juice cartons are getting some classy new teammates—glass wine and spirit bottles. Prepare to pocket 10 cents for each one!
