The Paper Recycling Bin

We might be living in a digital world, but paper is still very much a part of our lives. We know what you’re thinking, “can’t paper go in the yellow recycling bins?” Yes, but due to contaminants, they will be recycled into low quality products. When kept separate, paper and cardboard can be recycled up to eight times! Sounds pretty amazing, hey?

In the video, John details the reasoning behind the separation of paper and mixed recycling

The Organic Waste Bin

When organic waste goes into landfill, the lack of oxygen creates a scary gas called methane, 25 times more potent a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. That’s where our organic waste bins come in!

The Landfill Bin

You might be surprised to see a landfill bin here, hey? Well, there are some things that simply can’t be recycled and they go in our red bins. After all, our ethos here at Ecobins is about doing everything we can, not to be perfect!

Let's take a look at the use cases for the Landfill Bin.

The Mixed Recycling Bin

We like to think of all the plastic takeaway containers and chickpea tins enjoying each other’s company in our Mixed Recycling bin before they’re taken for initial processing and turned into something incredible. The world is their oyster, but only if they’re recycled!

John takes us through the Mixed Recycling process in the video here.

The Glass Bin

Want to hear some good news? Glass is totally recyclable and can be recycled indefinitely into some pretty cool things, like astroturf - who knew? Now that’s worth popping the Champagne for!

We've got a few extra tips in the video! Go take a look.

The Mission

If you’re here, we have it on pretty good authority that you want to do more to help the environment. You know it is important but it seems like such a mammoth task and frankly, a little overwhelming. We get it.

Our mission is to make waste separation easier and reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill. Yup, it is as simple as that.

You probably separate your landfill and recycling at home, but we don’t seem to do that at work, at schools or just about anywhere else, for that matter. That didn’t sit right with us, so we decided to do something about it.

When you use your Ecobin, we want you to know you are making a difference with just a small action. We know change is scary, but in this case, it is so important and before you know it, proper waste separation will become second nature!
