Setting up an effective recycling program doesn’t have to be hard work, you can just follow these easy steps;
- Raise awareness of your recycling program – start by speaking to the staff/students at your school or staff members in your office to raise the idea of setting up a recycling program. Gauge interest from them about who is passionate about helping set up the program and implement change to help better our environment.
- Brainstorm and research materials that can be recycled – work with your team on creating a list of what items can be recycled, some ideas to consider would be;
- Create awareness materials for display – it is important to create materials that will support your new way of sorting waste and help educate your team. This could be an email that can be sent out to everyone explaining how the new system of managing waste is going to run moving forwards. You could include some facts on the serious issues our planet is facing due to the amount of items that are ending up in landfill.
